The Italian Review of International & Comparative Law (IRIC) serves as an authoritative platform for debate on all subjects related to public and private international law, comparative law and European law. Despite their close interconnections, international law and comparative law are not often studied together. IRIC seeks to bridge this gap and promote the integration of comparative law methodologies into the investigation of international law. It welcomes contributions from legal scholars worldwide, with a particular emphasis on submissions from scholars who are based or educated in Italy. IRIC aims to bring the vibrant debates within Italian scholarship to an international audience. By doing so, it is committed to increasing the global influence of Italian doctrinal approaches to international and comparative law.

IRIC publishes scholarly articles, recent developments chiefly aimed at practitioners, and book reviews. It invites submissions that span both theoretical and practical aspects of law. Interdisciplinary works that draw on economics, sociology, legal theory, history, and political science may also be considered.

All articles submitted to IRIC undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process. After submission, a member of the editorial board assesses whether the article meets IRIC’s formal and substantive criteria. If it does, the article is sent for further review to an external referee. The external referee is a scholar who is not part of IRIC’s editorial board. In specific cases (e.g. if the article adopts a multidisciplinary approach), additional advice may be sought from another external reviewer. The identities of both the author and the external reviewer(s) remain confidential throughout the review process. External reviewers may be drawn from a regularly updated list of distinguished scholars in international law and comparative law, which is available on the publisher’s website.

Papers for consideration should be addressed to IRIC Submissions. Authors can expect a final decision within two months of submission. Please note that IRIC only considers exclusive submissions.
